JP III – A 1930 Chris-Craft with Provenance

A mahogany runabout built in 1930 by the American company Chris-Craft (Chris Smith & Sons).
Powered by a Chris-Craft A120 V8 engine — 13.5 litres and 250 horsepower — she reaches speeds of up to 38 knots.
Commissioned by Bengt Unander-Scharin, the Swedish importer of Chris-Craft, and delivered to J.P. Åhlén — founder of Åhléns — the vessel was named JP III in his honour.
Over a period of 25 years, JP III has undergone a meticulous and comprehensive restoration. She is presented today in exceptional condition, both aesthetically and mechanically.
Her original engine (No. 514) has been carefully preserved, while an identical Chris-Craft A120 engine (No. 426), sourced from the United States, has been installed to ensure optimal performance.
JP III has been recognised in Sweden as one of the finest restored classic boats of her kind and has won several awards for her restoration. The deep resonance of the 13.5-litre V8, combined with the high-gloss mahogany and polished fittings, creates a presence that must be experienced.
She represents a rare and distinguished example of early Chris-Craft craftsmanship — a true collector’s piece.
